About J'Orren

     J' Orren is the Christian ministry of Johnnie O. Givens Jr., singer/rapper/songwriter/producer.​ A faithful and God-fearing man, J’Orren was born to Johnnie O. Givens, Sr. (father) and Sharon A. Hardy (McKinnon) his mother in Gainesville, FL. He began singing in church at a very young age under the tutelage of his late and dear grandmother Loretha Johnson-West, an advanced pianist. J'Orren was always around music beginning a very young age. He developed his zeal for singing from both parents while being reared in separate households. He credits his father, mother and grandmother for grooming, supporting and encouraging him to develop his talent. It is his mother he commends for always pushing him to utilize his God given talent of singing by introducing him to the passionate side of singing. "Sherry" as she is widely known, was and is a dynamic vocalist who nearly reached the pinnacle of a success in a music career after having had the opportunity to record with renown producer, Babyface when J'Orren was just nine.

 

     J’Orren grew up listening to R&B groups such as Boyz II Men, Silk, KC & JoJo and others. He would cultivate his gift by later incorporating dynamics of Gospel groups and figures like The Canton Spirituals, Smokie Norful, and Dawkins & Dawkins, Mercy Me, and Third Day to name a few. Over the years, audiences near and far have applauded J’Orren’s pristine falsettos, polished pitch, and melodic & harmonic vocals. By the time he had reached age fifteen, he had become a local and notable soloist in his community, and abroad. By nineteen, J’Orren had already married, began a family, and completed his first mini-album titled 'Entry'. This early success afforded him opportunities to connect with labels such as Arista, Motown, Epic, and Def-Jam records. Thankfully, none of those options were in Gods will for him!

 

     At the mature, yet tender age of twenty-one J'Orren surrendered his life to The Lord and his passion for music transformed into something far greater...a passion for Christ! A talented vocalist and prolific songwriter, J’Orren began to focus more on pleasing God over himself or others. He began to compose an assorted collection of Spirit-filled songs across several genres; but, in keeping with one central theme and message---the Gospel of Christ and the hope it brings! No matter his delivery method singing or rapping, traditional or contemporary, old school or new J'Orren incorporates R&B, Pop, Techno and even Country styles of music into the familiar soul-stirring and spirit-moving sounds Christians have come to enjoy! J'Orren's ministry remains replete with biblically sound metaphors and similes that reminds Believers and himself to love, trust and obey Gods Word. Every song is written, fueled, filled, and delivered with power from The Spirit of God, and by the authority of Jesus! Amen
